Setting new records for her school, Mathiowetz accumulated 1,143 points this year alone, bringing her career total to 2,519 points. Beyond scoring, she contributed significantly to her team's overall success with rebounds, assists, and steals, guiding the Knights to a commendable fourth-place finish in the Class A State Girls Basketball Tournament.
In the realm of wrestling, Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Area's Nick Slater was celebrated as Wrestler of the Year. Slater clinched the Class A state individual championship at 189 pounds, marking him as the tenth wrestler in his school’s storied history to achieve such a feat. With an impressive tally of 187 career wins, he ranks third in school history. His consistent excellence has earned him multiple recognitions over the years, including last season's KNUJ Wrestler of the Year title. The Boys Basketball Player of the Year honor went to BOLD senior Jack Gross, whose leadership propelled his team into the Class A State Boys Basketball Tournament. Known for his versatility, Gross averaged 21.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game, surpassing the 2,000-point milestone during the state tournament.
